Dean Chisholm graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 1992, and has enjoyed a career that has allowed him to practice across a broad spectrum of the law. He began his career as a prosecutor, litigating high-profile criminal cases, and eventually served as Special Counsel to the Montana Supreme Court.
For the past 20 years, Dean has practiced primarily in the civil law, trying dozens of cases in state and federal trial courts. Those cases included complex wage claim and employment litigation, dissolution, commercial construction defects, personal injury and wrongful deaths, probate claims, federal patent infringement and white-collar fraud. He has handled more than a dozen cases before the Montana Supreme Court. Dean has been recognized by several national publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Lawyers, and The Best Lawyers in America consumer guide.
Dean continues to represent individuals, corporations and local governments on a wide array of legal matters in state and federal courts.
Penni Chisholm is a graduate of Columbia Falls High School. Penni earned degrees in Economics and Political Science, as well as her Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana. Among other honors at the University of Montana School of Law, she was selected to the National Order of Barristers as a member of the National Moot Court Team.
As a partner with the Rebeck & Chisholm Law Firm in Great Falls, Penni handled a wide variety of issues for her clients, including administrative, contract, corporate, criminal defense, family law, insurance subrogation, appeals, and personal injury.
Since returning to Columbia Falls in 1997, Penni is an experienced litigator, focusing on personal injury and family law. She has tried cases across the state in Flathead, Cascade, Lake, Gallatin, Musselshell, and Custer counties. She has preserved millions of dollars of assets for her clients in divorce cases and recovered millions of dollars for her clients in injury cases, including the largest personal injury verdict in the history of Flathead County at the time of verdict.
Penni has been selected by the community as one of the Flathead Valley’s best attorneys multiple times. She has served as a director on numerous boards, including CASA For Kids, North Valley Hospital, Flathead Lake United Methodist Camp, Alpine Theatre Project, and the Community Health Center. Her family has been honored by United Way as the Valley’s volunteer family of the year.
Joy Pennington earned her paralegal degree in 1995 from the University of Montana, College of Technology. She has worked for large litigation firms in Western Montana performing work on class actions, personal injury cases and criminal cases in the United States Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C. and the Federal District Courts in Montana, civil litigation and domestic relations cases in the Montana Supreme Court, and criminal appeals in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She specializes in personal injury law, collection law, employment law, and civil and criminal litigation. She is also a Paralegal Affiliate with the American Association for Justice, formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of American. Since moving to the Flathead Valley in 2002, she has contributed her knowledge and experience toward making the Chisholm Law Firm among the best in our state.
MaryAnn Christensen has more than 30 years of experience in handling family law cases, wills, estates and probates, bankruptcies, workers compensation, corporations and limited liability companies, and commercial and real estate transactions. She brings a wealth of experience and training to the firm's domestic relations and transactional practice. MaryAnn is a Kalispell native and graduated from Flathead High School. She has enjoyed traveling and has worked for large law firms in Portland and Denver, as well as smaller firms in Polson and Whitefish.
Since 1995 Carol Ladenburg has worked as a legal assistant and secretary to the firm, and currently directs the firm's operations as Office Manager. Carol and her husband are Columbia Falls natives, and they and their family have been recognized for their contributions to our community’s school and social programs.
McKenna Emmerich earned her degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Gonzaga University in 2017. She began as an intern for the firm in 2014, later becoming a legal assistant. McKenna is the marketing and advertising contact for the firm. McKenna grew up in the Columbia Falls area and graduated from Columbia Falls High School. She has extensive international travel experience, receiving part of her undergraduate education through Queen Mary University of London in London, England and Gonzaga University’s campus in Florence, Italy.
